Mid-week Randoms
The last couple of weeks for us have been all about settling into a new routine. It's sort of wierd to me to go from working full time (in a job I despise, making semi-decent money) to part time (in a job I actually enjoy, yet get paid in merch next to nothing). I'm taking on pretty much all of the household duties that we split up before (minus trash. I won't do trash if Steven is around) but I really don't mind. I'm definitely thankful there's no pressure on me to work. And that's a small lifestyle (or shopping?) sacrifice we (I?) decided to make. I quite like cooking when I have time to plan out our meals. I certainly don't mind cleaning or getting a jog in at 8:30 most mornings! Me? a workout routine? Now, that's a novel concept. I feel rather free and it's refreshing, for a change. Yet, we're staying busy (per usual) and soon I'll actually be back in NC for over a month. I hope when I come back to Texas we have a house. I'm dying for a place to call home! But, anyway... here are some iPhone pics of our life lately!

My new job!
As mentioned yesterday, I got a job offer this week! I'm so excited to announce that I'll be working at a high end boutique, here in Amarillo. I wasn't even looking for a job quite yet, but while Steven and I were shopping around the 2nd day we were here, we stumbled into this cute shop. One of the gals working approached me and we started chatting and she said "oh you must not be from around here!" to which I replied, "Nope! We just moved yesterday from NC!" She immediately asked if I needed a job because they were looking for someone else. Cut to a week later, I had met with the owner, and was offered the position! Yay!
The store is called JBS Linens (please go LIKE us on facebook!) and we specialize in custom bedding, monograms, gifts, and pretty much everything that would make your home smell fabulous and feel soft and cozy (pajamas, robes, towels, blankets, amazing candles...) I'll take pictures soon to share! I'll actually be helping with some of the marketing and social media, too! It's been a few years since I've worked retail, but I never minded it when I worked at boutiques back in college. I can already tell that the gals I work with are wonderful people and we'll be able to create a fun working environment. The shoppers tend to be very chatty and I'm dying to get to know some of the local interior decorators since they shop often for clients.
I think this may be right up my ally. It will at least enable me to be involved with a few other things that are more creative to me (events, decorating!?) Quite a change from the 9-5 corporate misery that got me nowhere. Administrative jobs are just not for me. I'm excited for a change!

Speaking of Fall...
Guys, my husband is not so happy with me!! I got a JOB OFFER yesterday so to celebrate, I did a little more shopping for fall transition pieces. I couldn't help it. I had stopped into Talbots earlier in the day and snagged a dark green BLAZER that had been marked down from $150 to $25! THEN, I logged onto Asos.com last night and there was a HUGE sale with an extra 10% off code. Everything I purchased will be great for our trip! I was definitely looking for a loose knit white sweater. Very nautical. I just couldn't resist the pink cardi or the navy peplum. I swear I don't have a problem, but this is what happens when I go MONTHS of resisting the urge to shop for clothes. Everything coordinates and can be mixed and matched or layered with stuff I currently have. Even better, all of this cost me less than $150. WHAT!?

Sailing into Fall
I'm not sure how the weather is back home in NC, but I'm guessing it's still hot, muggy, and summery! The nice thing about Amarillo is that it's actually cooling off quite nicely. The downfall: we're nowhere near the ocean. Or much of any water for that matter. That doesn't really stop me from loving the nautical, preppy style of these transition outfits, though.
The cooler weather has me thinking about fall, and I'm so excited that we're approaching our trip to New England, which is mid-September. Steven and I are heading to Mystic, CT for the wedding of my dear friend, Emily. Before we make way to CT though, we'll be exploring Boston, Martha's Vineyard (Mass), Providence and Newport (Rhode Island). YAY for more states to check off our list :)
Boo for the sudden realization that the trip is after Labor Day so out goes- white jeans, seersucker, and summery wedges...
In an effort to figure out what to wear, I've done a little bit of shopping. I just picked up this dress from Gap (30% off today!) which will be a perfect transition into fall dress! They also have navy, but my size wasn't available :(

I'm back!...with big news....
So I have been holding out on posting much here for a while!! Truth be told: the last month of my life has been a complete whirlwind. You know that trip to Amarillo where we got to spend literally 48 hours scoping it out? Well, the husband was here for an interview and I got to tag along. I was in major denial that we could potentially be uprooting our newly established life to hightail it out west. Cut to a week later, after lots of tears and prayers, we decided he should definitely accept the job offer. And... well...now, we live in Texas!! North Texas...so...do a little google mapping if you're not sure about Amarillo. It's smack in the middle between Alburquerque and Oklahoma City. Of course if you follow me on instagram or if we're real life friends, you're aware of our big change and probably saw snippets of our westbound travels! :) We had a successful farewell tour in the midst of packing up our house and getting it ready for the market. Our trip out here was a blast and I can't believe we got to check off some of our "biggest cities in the US" goal. It was definitely fun. Even though it felt like a vacation, the final destination and change was looming over us so, it was nerveracking at the same time. Don't get me wrong, we're excited to be here. Embracing the change.... but neither of us have lived more than an hour away from our hometowns so this is huge. I know we'll be alright, though! Our little Honda Accord was packed to the brim with our most important belongings and we thankfully arrived in one piece. So we're here! 2400 miles away from home, in a little furnished apartment, just waiting for our house to sell! Fingers crossed it'll be real soon.
Since the hubs has started his new job and I've unpacked and made this humble abode liveable, I should be back to blogging next week on a regular basis. My main focus is finding a house and maybe even a job. I could go on with the terrible and interesting things I've seen while house hunting here (ahem. crazy clowns!?), but I'll just keep trucking until we find something cute!
So friends, this weekend we'll be exploring our new town, heading to a "city center" block party, and maybe even hanging out with new friends! Hopefully I can check a few things off my to-do list and maybe we'll have better luck in our house hunting! Hope your weekend is filled with sunshine!
