When travel expert Kendra Thornton contacted me to participate in a fashion challenge, I was excited to accept! I LOVE traveling and exploring new places and I really enjoy packing according to the destination. Nothing gets me more excited than finding the perfect new dress and accessorizing! I normally love mixing high and low pieces, but for her trip to Miami I thought I might step up my game a little. I've come up with two looks for her trip. One look is what she's requested: something that will transition from a day of fun in Miami (even by the pool) to a rooftop Mexican dinner with dancing. My second look is for a swanky date night! Who doesn't want to dazzle their man for an occasion!? Here's a little more about this challenge from Kendra:
"While I love taking vacations with my entire family, this year we are taking a vacation to Miami without our children! My husband and I have always traveled with our three children, so it is definitively time for some alone time with him. We plan on having a great time in Miami, and I am going to take many pictures so I can look back on this vacation. Since I am a mother of three, my personal style sometimes takes a backseat to our busy lifestyle. I usually read fashion blogs, and I am looking to my favorite bloggers for some great advice on what to wear in Miami!
I used a social media website called Gogobot for a hotel, and I found a great hotel called Dream South Beach. It has all the right accommodations that my husband and i are looking for, and many great reviews. Dream South Beach is located on Collins Avenue, which is only 50 yards away from the white sand beaches.It is a an upscale hotel that has amenities that will allow us to pamper ourselves as we relax in the hot Miami sun.This hotel has over a hundred guestrooms which have amenities such as large flat screen televisions and fully-stocked minibars. This art deco style hotel has spa treatments available for guests and a rooftop pool and lounge.
While my husband and I are visiting Miami and staying at the Dream South Beach, I plan on spending time at the rooftop lounge and having dinner at the Naked Taco, which is a Mexican restaurant located at the Dream South Beach. I need an outfit that can go from a day of sightseeing to a night of dancing at the rooftop lounge. Now that I found the right hotel, I just need to find the perfect outfit! I am turning to you and creating "Kendra's Miami Fashion Challenge". I am sure that I will get some great fashion advice and style ideas that I can use for my Miami vacation.I am looking forward to wearing the perfect outfit in the many pictures we plan to take of our Miami vacation!"
Mara Hoffman dresses just make me happy! Perfect for Miami, right? I think the pattern pop on the top is just enough to mix with some fun accessories without being too wild. Kendra is a sophisticated mama, so this is perfect for being trendy, but still classy! This dress acts as a maxi cover-up by day and it's perfect for dinner and dancing in the evening. She could switch to a cute wedge and a clutch for the evening's festivities!
We have that floral Milly dress at Lilly Finch (for less than the $900 pricetag from that link, I promise)! The material feels like a scuba suit! It's beyond cool and perfect for Miami.
