hired & wired

As we have stepped into June, I'm feeling like it's probably the busiest month so far this year. We are finally settled in here in Amarillo. I guess I can say that because for the first 9 months (holy cow!?) we were back and forth quite a bit. With no long trips in our foreseeable future, we've been diving into our routine and life here. It's our family's turn to come out west. My parents are visiting the last weekend of June and staying for an entire week! Granted, we have weekend trips planned during their stay (to Santa Fe and Denver), we'll be prepping our house in the meantime and I'll be working like a madwoman -- I was hired to assist with the design of Liv's mom & dad's vacation home renovation in Boulder, Colorado. We've been finalizing faucet fixtures, tile, lighting, flooring, etc etc etc. Quite new for me, but SO exciting! I'm grateful for the opportunity and eager to see how things may come together! In addition to that, I'm starting to work with another designer who owns a custom drapery and upholstery studio. Learning the behind the scenes and business end is so neccessary because I'll get a better grasp of how design works, espeicially in the realm of fabric and upholstering. Everything for Race for the Cure is about to gear up as well. And don't worry, I still have my job at JBS Linens! So if this space gets neglected, my apologies! I'm hoping I can get back into a blogging grove soon.

Speaking of Boulder, though, I'll share a little inspiration I've found. Our goal is to create the feel of a Parisian apartment. Bold, modern, and sleek, but warm and cozy.

Of course the new Lonny Mag has a few images that are right up this ally! I'm instantly drawn to the noir and blanche Georgian apartment designed by Lee Kleinhelter. I love her style. I wrote a little about Pieces before, and when we went to ATL I made a point to stop in. I was pretty much blown away and I wanted everything. That store is amazing and Lee was actually there! We chatted for a while and she offered some friendly, inspirational design advice to me. So cool!

I think the black & white will go lovely with this gorgeous flooring in the Boulder home. The floors will make a statement. Sadly, the window was missed to do herringbone hardwoods, but we've discovered a few other options that will be dramatic and, dare I say, sexy

A few other beautiful rooms with a Parisian vibe that have my mind reeling for when the time comes...

I have a feeling I'll be wanting to move right in...

Happy Monday, friends!
